Dr. Santosh T. Soans is a Mangalore based pediatrician, pediatric intensivist, medical educator and profession leader of international repute.
He obtained his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore (Mysore University) in the year 1985 and did his Post-Graduation in Pediatrics from the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal/Mangalore in 1988. His consulting practice involves well-baby check-ups, vaccination / immunization, and school physicals along with diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of pediatric illness, in both in- and out-patient settings.
He is a visiting consultant at AJ Hospital & Research Center, Mangalore Nursing Home, Athena Hospital, SCS Hospital, Yenepoya Specialty Hospital, Sri Devi Nursing Home and Unity Hospital.

New Born Care
The period from birth upto the first five years is considered to be a precious phase in pediatrics. Monitoring of the child’s health during this phase addresses the avoidable problems associated with child birth and early childhood.
Here we assess the new born’s health status and address any observable issues. We also ensure required degree of care and protection against the risk factors associated with this stage of life.
Consultation
General consultation in pediatrics is uniquely directed at addressing the child ailments and growth issues, including behavioural and developmental aspects of childhood and adolescence.
Constant monitoring of child health is extremely important at all stages of development until reaching the age of maturity.
Critical Care
Pediatric critical care is a specialized life saving discipline which addresses revival and resuscitation of critically ill children in intensive care hospital settings.
Critically ill children need the highest level care which can be provided only in a specialized pediatric intensive care unit of a hospital. Dr. Soans is a pioneer in pediatric intensive care in this region and a visiting consultant at various leading hospitals of Mangalore.
Immunisation
Immunization is essential for ensuring good child health. Over the decades the development of effective high quality vaccines has given children total protection against a wide range of illnesses and helped in greatly reducing child mortality.
Dr. Santosh T. Soans is a specialist in children’s vaccination / immunization. He is skilled in performing the entire range of immunization from birth to maturity, including needleless/painless vaccines, along with required record keeping. Adult vaccinations and special vaccinations required for foreign travel are also administered. He was the chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Vaccines & Immunization Practice (ACVIP) which gave national recommendation for Immunization for 2018-2019.
